Welcome to welt muzik. We are a tribe of likeminded artists and musicians gathering together to promote and distribute each other's art. Welt had started out as just another attempt at starting a record label when we realized we could be something different and far more interesting and helpful. We strive to join likeminded fans, friends, artists, musicians and curious onlookers together in an environment not driven by profit or maintaining the status quo. There have been many ideas batted around between the founders that may yet see the light of day. Welcome to the next phase in the beginning of the welt muzik tribe. Please bear with us as we grow and stumble through the birthing pains, we are not well funded, over slicked, over produced cats. We are fans and friends of all the artists we support. We want to share with the world the great artists we discover and/or continue to support. Welt muzik has been in some form of existence for about 2 years now. We are founded by Shadow Von Blaksvn and Edward Oskar Johnson Jr. (RIP). We were prodded into getting welt into motion by Jared Louche of Chemlab, being a longtime friend of Ed's who told us we needed to do something with this crazy label idea we had been threatening to start as far back as 2003. Welt was fully prepared to swing into existence full on in October 2009 when days before, the guiding force behind welt, Edward Oskar Johnson, Jr. was murdered on September 13, 2009. Jared and I got together and decided to really push the tribe concept and let the product releases come later... The music industry we knew is no longer the machine it used to be...visibility and recognition get harder to obtain as more and more means of distribution come available and we noticed a lack of a central hub for people to go to and find information on new bands, tours, new releases, etc. We are forming the shape of things to come as we go...the tribe grows and we welcome you to grow with us...where will this go?
