'Wreath of Barbs', rudy r.'s fifth release as :wumpscut:, is by far in my opinion one of THE best albums released in a LONG time. its got an aura of pulsating beats and distant distorted vocals(along with guest Aleta Wellington), sounds that pull you under its skin. "..barbs" in itself has more a lot more feeling, not as much of the angrier, crunchier stuff from the past like 'music for a slaughtering tribe' and eevil young fleish'. he's obviously noticed the mass copying of style and such in industrial music today of what he's done. and probably got tired of doing the same thing.
and it was a good move.
the first track, "opening the gates of hell", is definately older :w: influenced. screaming distorted vocals and hard thrashing beats make it a good grr-stomper. "deliverence" is a total club song. then, the track that stands on its own, "wreath of barbs". with rudy's mechanicalistic vocals and its slower, tribal beats. the higlights of this album are abundant, but sadly the cd itself only lasts for 54:49 minutes. such highlights are "dr. thodt"(a build up that is pleasing to the ear), "christfuck"(a fav of mine), and "mankind's disease" are sure to be stuck in your head. and i can't forget the remix of kalte kamera's "eclipse". bzzt. this album is amazing.
in a whole, this has twangs of church-like organs, mechanized rudy, the haunting femme vocals, the list goes on. everything that was put into this effort is sure to be remembered and respected by a lot of people forever. and i am definately one of them. my respect for mister rudy ratzinger has grown immensely.

Artist: Wumpscut Album: Embryodead |

This album kicks ass. It is awesome hard-hitting ebm/ industrial rock that make you wanna let out your frustrations and either hurt someone or get up and dance (which ever you prefer). I love to listen to this album when i'm pissed off, cuz it just makes me feel good to hear the evil industrial sounds with the angry industrial vocals on this album. This album does have a few songs with a melodic side, such as the song "angel", which is a personal favorite of mine. This is my favorite wumpscut album. It has a more danceable/electronic sound than their older stuff. My favorite track is "embryodead" (the title track), it's a great ebm/industrial track which I like to play when I dj.
