Bryan has out done himself in this cd. He his awesome music/mix talent, followed by eerie female vocals make this cd stand out from others. He takes his own music, adds in sounds/ecerpts from movies, tv programs, books, anything he can get his hands on and mixes it all together. In "Fun With Drugs" he takes excerpts from a very popular book-turned-movie, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and mixes them in with his music. In "Slut" Bryan features a female guest vocalist who manages to get an eerie, yet incredible sound. (this being one of my personal favorites). In "Apflux", Bryan mixes in some extremely creepy clips of a person talking, and it really gives me the creepy vibes. To me, that is a sign of a job well done. There is not much more that I can think of to say about this album other than GO BUY IT NOW!

The newest album from this well known industrial band. Velvet Acid Christ has a unique style which is characterised by highly distorted vocals which sound very electronic and tend to be angry, yet they stay away from the harsh sounding vocals which are typical from bands such as wumpscut and din_fiv. The electronic rhythms tend to be very upbeat, makes you want to get up and kick the crap out of somebody. Very electronic, sounding almost like hardcore techno, with lots of cool samples. The main man behind VAC is Bryan Erickson. I had the pleasure of seeing VAC in concert while they were touring for this album and it was a great, energy packed show. The crowd was very much into it and started a mosh pit. In the liner notes of this CD booklet, Erickson talks of the fact that VAC is known for their drug references in their songs (one of my fave songs by them is "fun with drugs"). Then Erickson goes on to tell of his recent bad experiences with XTC, how drugs have harmed him, and his decision to no longer glorify drugs like he used to. I found these liner notes very touching, and I feel I can relate, since I myself am a former druggie and have seen the harms that drugs can do. Anyway, back to the album review. This album is actually surprisingly mellow compared to VAC's previous albums. In the liner notes, Erickson says this is his most Skinny Puppy influenced album. This is definitely not their best album, but I think VAC fans will not be disappointed. I think it is great that VAC is experimenting with new directions in their music. It seems that it is VAC's most emotional album, and the lyrics are much more meaningful than their other albums. My favorite song off this album is "dilaudid" which actually sounds unlike anything VAC has ever released before. The song actually incorporated soothing female vocals in it, and it sounds absolutely beautiful. As an extra bonus for all those VAC fans out there, this CD contains MP3s of VAC's entire first album, "Dimension 8". So just pop the CD into your computer and you'll be able to here this rarity.

Album: Calling Ov the Dead

Whats to say about a band with obvious talent. Addicting soundscapes with lush programing. Bryan Erickson(a.k.a disease factory) brutally asualts the auditory senses with fluid production laddled with ingeniously placed samples. Very difinitive, definitly unique, he stands alone in his world of sound manipulation. You cant help but respect the fact that he does it all by himself. "CALLING OV THE DEAD" is by far a c.d to honour your collection with. The production is imaculate and totaly flawless u`nlike this review. Each song moves in its own brilliant direction without the lag of continuity. Its a c.d you could play straight through and than play again. A hard machined beat with gently crushing vocals. The drum tracks are pure angst while swirling synth adds melody making an original sound that is seriously drug like.
