The Faint comes from a small label (Saddle Creek) that comes straight out of Omaha, NE. It is particaularly and Indie rock label. When I picked up this cd the descrption on the cover read "the fourth cd from a 'Nebraskan Indie Rock band' that has turned dark wave. I was a little uneasy, but they were recommended by a friend. I was blown away by this cd. Inside the cover there a description that read "songs of murder, death and betrayal that you can dance too." It couldn't have been better said. The guitar and drum lines pound into you and make you FEEL the morbid sense, yet the mellow, insanely distinct voice of the singer combined with some fancy work on the syntheseizer and the 80's dark-wave sound, makes it irresistable to dance too. "Glass Danse" is the 'single' of the cd. It is the catchiest, the most easy to dance to, and also the only one I have personally heard played in a club. The lyrics are captivating, as well as the dancable bass beat and the melody. Once you hear this song it is stuck in your head for the rest of the evening. Songs such as "Violent" and "Ballad of a paralyzed Citizen" portray the harsh realaties/tragedies of life, but in the best way possible. Guitars in one song, some fo the most beautiful cello work in another. There are sadly only 9 songs on this cd, but it's one that you will put on repeat for the rest of the day. Being the proud owner of the cd for a few years, I am happy to say that every time I listen to the cd I hear something new, some different level of the song. It keeps you on your toes and provides you with fun, beautiful, danceable, and thought provoking art. Something rare in many cd's these days.

Album: Danse Macabre Remixes

A fan of The Faint CANNOT pass up this album. Their last album "Danse Macabre" was remixed by some fo the greatest dj's known. Paul Oakenfold, Photek, and Medicine are just three of the 10 people. Paul Oakenfold takes the old favorite "Glass Danse" and remixes it into an even more dance worthy song. (just when you thought it wasn't possible) He combines a lighter sound to begin with, but keeps the same dark feeling. Medicine's cover of "Ballad of a Paralyzed Citizen" keeps the cello melody, but over laps it with the sound of horns, adds percusion and a female voice to the mix, and produces a song that rendured me speechless for a good 3 minutes after the song. If you are familiar with "Danse Macabre" then you will LOVE this album. If you haven't heard it, then this album will make you want to go buy "Danse Macabre".
