As their press release says "Hailing from Norway, Pride and Fall came together after individually
dabbling in metal, goth, and progressive trance." This CD brings the elements of those genres together,
for a more industrial / futurepop sound which seems club oriented, yet the vocals have a goth tone to them.
Has similarites to VNV Nation, but the vocals are a bit more goth sounding.
As their debut CD, this is a great album.
A few of the tracks are parcitularly great, but overall all of the tracks are worth listening to.
Track by track: 01- The Approach - Instrumental opening track 02 - Inside - Starts off with a hard thumping beat and an addictive synth line. Vocals sound really good, one of the best tracks on the album and also a great club track 03 - Paragon - Another good club track, upbeat and dancey. 04 - Matriarch - A short instrumental track. Pretty much filler space between songs. 05 - Omniscient - Starts off as an ethereal / goth sounding track, then the drums kick in and it turns more upbeat. Sounds like a goth song with a fast beat behind it. 06 - December - This is the reason why you must buy this album! This track rocks. I love to play it at my dj gigs. It starts off as an upbeat futurepop song, then towards the middle of the song, the music totally stops for a couple seconds, then the best part of the song comes, it sounds almost trance-like, with a vey uplifting part of the song as the vocals are very soothing, and the synth lines start out very soft and keep getting stronger to a climax where the drums kick in, then the rest of the song sounds different from the beginning of the song, but it's even better. My only issue with this track is that while playing it at a club, those couple of seconds of silence in the middle can confuse people at times, but once the rest of the song kicks in, it sounds great. 07 - Delusion - A good track, has some cool samples, and it kinda sounds like hammers hitting metal throughout the song. The vocals are totally different from the rest of the songs, they are distorted and angry, kinda like Hocico or God Module. It's only a minute and 43 seconds long though, so it's a short track. 08 - Construct - This track reminds me of Project Pitchfork, it's a good track, EBM/ Industrial sounding. 09 - Serenade of Dreams - An instrumental track, very soothing and ethereal sounding. Has some cool samples in it. 10 - Extinction Means Forever - One of the better tracks on the album. More futurepop sounding than a lot of the other tracks. It's a good club track exept for the fact that the vocals start off right away at the beginning fo the song. A good club remix of this track would make it really good.
