The is Droom's second single, and considerably better than their 1st "While We Can" single which is also pretty good.
Droom's sound varies from future-pop, goth, synthpop.
They have similarities to "Lost SIgnal". The title track "Stay!" is a really good song, with good programming behind it.
Compared to their previous single, the vocals are more melodic and smooth, making it sound more club-friendly.
The "Delobbo Chromatic Mix" of the title track is more techno-oriented, its a great version of the song, making it sound
quite different from the original version.
"These child's eyes" is a more mellow, downtempo track on here. The vocals have a strong, emotional feel to them, they sound a bit too goth for me though.
Overall its a pretty decent track. "Stay! (Intuition's liquid mix)" is a more synthpop sounding version of the single, its also a lot
more cut-up and experimental sounding.
"Into the Grey" is a goth sounding ballad. I guess that's cool if you're into goth music, but who listens to goth music these days anyway?
Overall, the single "Stay!" is a good track, and shows that Droom has some real potential. It's pretty obvious that these guys still have some
work to do in order to really polish their sound, but they seem to have good electronic music programming skills.
While I wouldn't say it's gonna be a club hit, I enjoy playing it at dj gigs, since its a good track and nice to hear something new for a change and it mixes well with other songs.
A Different Drum has been putting out some great releases lately, such as Syrian, Virtual Server, T.O.Y., De/Vision. Looks like they're
still america's source for synthpop, yet going in a more electronic / futurepop direction, which is cool.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Droom will do for a full-length release.
