One of our favorite Norwegian synth-pop bands is back, and has made
an impression (once again) with their new CD "Harmonizer". This CD not
only shows the incredible talent of Stephen Groth and his band, but
shows the never-ending and evolving diversity that they have to offer
their fans.
"Until the End of The World" is the most popular club song,
followed closely by "Rollergirl", "Unicorn" and "Suffer in Silence".
These four tracks have the wicked dance beat we are so used to from Apop,
but also has their edgy and experimental synth effects to give it that
signature sound. Although definitely signature songs, they don't have
that repetitive annoying quality to them as many synth-pop and dance
soungs do.
Songs such as "Ok amp...Let Me Out" surprised me at first with a
sound that would be more expected from DJ's such as Paul Oakenfold and
Scott Henry, but keep a darker hint to them then the later DJ's normally
have.
To be perfectly honest, this is not Apoptygma Berzerk's best CD. I
myself am a fan of the "Welcome to Earth" CD. It seems that this is a
CD much better enjoyed in a club setting, but is still nice to listen to
at home once in awhile. It is a must for the die-hard Apop fan though.

If you like apop, then you will definately like this tour video.
Live footage from concerts, footage behind the scenes, footage from video
shoots, the band and crew and the process of going on tour, scenes of recording,
and last but not least, footage of the fans.
The camera work in the scenes of concerts is amazing. It captures you,
pulls you in, pretty much makes you feel like you are actually at the concert.
Plus, the light shows are AWESOME.
You get to know more about the band by watching them, and listening
to them, which is cool, because everyone likes to know what the members of
a band are REALLY like.
If you get the dvd, there is bonus footage hidden a few times throughout
the course of the movie. It's mainly footage from the lead singers personal
camera. Theres also hidden footage from a show that they did in Rome. That
was cool. At the end, theres a bonus scene of the song "Burning Heretics"
from a concert they did in 1994. Its mediocre, but its pretty nifty to see
how the band has changed in sound and appearance. You can even tell the difference
of how the play it now (he sings on that video, it's done with a machine
every other time)
Overall, I enjoyed the video very much so. However, I would have liked
it if the sound quality was a little bit better in the speaking sessions,
and if they would have changed the concert scenes up, to different concerts.
Most of that footage was taken from a single concert. But all in all, highly
recommended if you like Apop.

This is the newest album from this great industrial band. Apoptygma Berzerk is
one of the more popular bands in the industrial scene, and with good reason.
This album truly lives up to Apop's name. My personal favorite song on this CD
is "Kathy's song." This intro track is a bunch of cool samples talking about
aliens, which transitions excellently into the 2nd track, named "starsign",
which is a great song. I could go on and on about how this album is great,
but I'd rather not and I'll just say that this is truly an excellent album.

This industrial/ebm work of art makes me want to get up and dance.
The first track, "Love Never Dies, part I" is a favorite among
the industrial/goth community. It's easily recognizable by its
dramatic intro which seems to be taken from some popular
classical song. Many unconventional techniques are used in
this album, yet it all works so perfectly. Apoptygma Berzerk
really experimented and played around with different kinds of
musical effects for this album. My personal favorite is the track
"Non-stop Violence", which reminds me of dancing at the pyramid
in nyc. I would have to say that this track is one of my favorite
songs ever.
