I am this fiery snail, crawling home. ... .. . I am: a vegetarian, feminist, Zen Buddhist, believer in and practicer of nonviolence. I am a humanist, a poet, an optimist. I practice yoga and breathing exercises. One day I want to have an underground house and a garden of sunflowers. I have nightmares about airplanes almost every night. When I am awake I tell myself they are just filled with people flying home. I just finished getting my M.A. in Poetry at Southern Illinois Univeresity (Edwardsville.) I spent the summer in Billings, Montana, doing some volunteer work through Americorps, feeding hungry children. I just got a job in North Carolina to teach English at a community college here. I'd never been to Noth Carolina before, but am already addicted to the ferns, hanging moss, and pinecones as big as my head! I feel like I am in pre-history, and am expecting to see a triceratops from my window any day now. I change the way I look CONSTANTLY. I have had 48 piercings over the past few years. I have shaved my head, had a full mohawk, had half my head shaved with a furry red heart etched into it, blue hair, purple hair, pink hair and pink eyebrows, black extensions, curly hair, straight hair, pixie hair cut. I dress professional, or gothic, or bohemian, or wear nothing at all depending on my mood. I have been many different people, and every one of them was truly me. I don't watch t.v. but I do love documentaries! especially about dinosaurs!
