What does being Goth mean to you?
Goth to me is seeing beauty in everything that is dark and mysterious... being creative, being a Goth is not just about the MUSIC!!! YES music has biggest impacted on the goth world. But it not everything!!! YES the Gothic sub-culture did start from offshoot the post-punk genre in the 1980s but Goth has being around a lot longer and before that. Goth started off as a Literature culture, architecture- medieval ruins,
such wonderful Literature like the work of Edgar Allan Poe and H.P Lovecraft
Victorian Painting like - Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood & Anne Sudworth to main other more dark art peices
GOTH has been around and stocking and scared the world for a very long time. Keeping it self hinden and underground for so long but because of these things it grave people new idea and open up the idea that horror and darkness can be art and is not something to be scared of..Because of this more gothic horror books, movies, painting, modeling style and fashion, music style etc... has it the modem and mainstream world today.
The gothic Fashion is a very modem idea and didn t really hit the world until after the 80s. But right now the modem fashion has become a new form of the unusual and the unknown
From Victorian - corset, dresses,chokers to bat cave-fishnets & studs, boots, to cyber-crazy colors hair and style, vampires horror theme and putting all these thing together to create a new and weird look that keeps growing and changing into new and wonderful things.
Gothic music has because such a big and impacted and art to the modem Goth world today. From starting off from more well know 80's or 90's Rock and Goth's roots like: Sister of Mercy & Joy Division to all kind of new and different style and forms of music genres like batcave, dark-wave, horror-wave, horror punk, goth rock, ethereal, industrial and so much more that has moved and changed the hole culture to new levels.
When I myself think of Goth
I think of beauty in the darkness, seeing the horrors of life for that they really are something beautiful. Open mined to Spirituality. Fashion all the individual styles like cyber, punk, "Victorian ladies" corsets, dress, jewelry, etc... , Art being creative, literature, poetry, Music posted 80 s rock and classical music and so on, being an individual knowing who you are. That why I love being part of the Goth sub-cultures my self!!
