I realize there have been a few users who have been trying to bully other users, pick on them and make fun of them. We have been actively monitoring the site and the line has been drawn, we will be cracking down on these offensive users and making VF a more friendly and accepting environment. As always we actively encourage freedom of speech, but not at our community's expense and not at the expense of other users. The shame is that none of what you said seemingly applies to your Messageboard Jet. Your PoS forum regulars troll, make fun of and/or bully new comers on it every day, sometimes going as far as to type insulting crap under their name which they then can't remove.(Why are we still unable to edit that ourselves?) They will freely insult you then ban you out or type permanent unremovable crap under your name if you have a problem with it.
It is a good network otherwise, hopefully one day its forum will catch up.(Thanks for finally deleting the fake Blutengel profile btw, that's my favorite band and I hated seeing an obvious fake trying to leech herself off their success)

I think the ability to freely change your name would just be abused to get around block lists, unless their name updated on it without dropping them off of it.

Cyber bullying, come one people. Are kids these days baby so much that they let other people words define who they are. last i checked this was a site filled with people who want to be them selves. If you let other peoples words get you, then you are a weak individual, and obviously to insecure with who you are. Stop trying to protect kids with this crap, and have them grow a back bone. I understand that a lot of the times it gets so bad that kids try to kill them selves. Oh, well. this is life not a fairy tale, if you can not stand up for your self, and you have no respect for your own life too, then don't expect the rest of us to care. stop giving these damn kids a hug every time thy cry. Bullying is nothing new whether it is online or on the streets, it's been happening since the dawn of man and women-kind. Stop crying, pick your self up, grow a pair.

I hate to rain on your parade, but people will be pieces of shit to you regardless of who/what you are. It's human nature to be pieces of shit to each other. I have been harassed on vf so fucking much it's not funny, but you know how many times I've even needed to consider reporting it?
One time, and that was because someone posted my full name in the comments of someone's picture that wasn't mine. I had to wait for 2 days for the comments to be deleted. That's harassment, telling me I'm a "smelly hippy that needs to stop living in a basement and get laid" is not. It never will be anything other than an idiot posting an inconsequential opinion on my profile.
You know how I resolved the issue? I blocked them... and I lived happily ever after.
Encouragement of suicide is highly uncalled for. I know how that shit is, after witnessing one of my best friends blow his brains all over the place sitting 3 feet away from me. All because someone apparently harassed him etc.
Now I suffer from it, PTSD, talk about being mentally and emotionally fucked for life, having to witness that shit.
I must be the only person who has dealt with suicide that actually thinks it's perfectly ok to call out whiny emo teenagers for posting publicly that they are going to kill themselves over _____ dumb thing.
Perhaps the fact that I have dealt with close friends having killed themselves and being suicidal myself at one point is why I think I'm perfectly justified to point out attention whores who use suicide as a publicity stunt.
I've always loved VF and have had a lot of respect for Jet and the rest of the staff. My original account was made in 2005 - and I STILL haven't been bullied by anyone on here luckily. I'm very happy to see that you guys will be cracking down on all the assholes out there though. And really? We Hate VF cults? What a bunch of fucking idiots! If you hate the site, here's a simple answer to your problem - LEAVE! Trust us, we WON'T miss you. Making a cult just to shit talk and be rude is completely pointless. I vote we go through and report/delete every cult AND every member of it. If I see anyone being an asshole for no reason, I won't hesitate to step in and report them. Thanks so much for all you do Jet. This is why all of us love the site so much
VF in general always seemed to take a laissez-faire attitude towards harassment and trolling, but to be honest, I'm pretty happy to see something proactive being done about it.
G0regasm I don't see this solution as productive. All it's doing is causing drama and site members to be ostracized and alienated. The term "which hunt" was used, and I think it's quite fitting.
Instead of making this an administrative matter and suspending people for being mean, they should be holding seminars or making tutorials on how to deal with dickheads on the site and in real life. That would be productive.
