Cyber Bullying VampireFreaks is proud to be a site where users can be accepted for their differences, and escape the everyday 'normal life' of being judged or picked on.
I realize there have been a few users who have been trying to bully other users, pick on them and make fun of them. We have been actively monitoring the site and the line has been drawn, we will be cracking down on these offensive users and making VF a more friendly and accepting environment. As always we actively encourage freedom of speech, but not at our community's expense and not at the expense of other users. Thanks for your support and we do encourage everyone to be courteous to their fellow VF members and help encourage a friendly community. =)
OddApple Me too! I was talking to the girl on tumblr who was being faked and she said she was trying to find a way to get it taken down but didn't know what to do.
Seriously, I think they like the fakes.
It definitely shouldn't be that way. And someone shouldn't have to have an account on this goddamn site to make stealing images wrong. I mean according to that logic I should be able to find any sexy person on Facebook, make an account with their pics and never ever be deleted.
I've always loved VF and have had a lot of respect for Jet and the rest of the staff. My original account was made in 2005 - and I STILL haven't been bullied by anyone on here luckily. I'm very happy to see that you guys will be cracking down on all the assholes out there though. And really? We Hate VF cults? What a bunch of fucking idiots! If you hate the site, here's a simple answer to your problem - LEAVE! Trust us, we WON'T miss you. Making a cult just to shit talk and be rude is completely pointless. I vote we go through and report/delete every cult AND every member of it. If I see anyone being an asshole for no reason, I won't hesitate to step in and report them. Thanks so much for all you do Jet. This is why all of us love the site so much
VF in general always seemed to take a laissez-faire attitude towards harassment and trolling, but to be honest, I'm pretty happy to see something proactive being done about it.
Jet the red font that comes up when I try to prop something I've already propped feels very hostile and makes me feel bullied. Can you do something about it?
G0regasm I don't see this solution as productive. All it's doing is causing drama and site members to be ostracized and alienated. The term "which hunt" was used, and I think it's quite fitting.
Instead of making this an administrative matter and suspending people for being mean, they should be holding seminars or making tutorials on how to deal with dickheads on the site and in real life. That would be productive.
If people have issues with support tickets not getting dealt with promptly, I do apologize. I handle the bulk of them, and it seems when I am sleeping or at my other job, shit just doesn't get done.
If other admins were as active as me, there would be fewer problems as it pertains to efficient support.
Simple solution. make me an admin.
i work from home so im online allll freaking day and im actually motivated enough to do some research into the situation before banning someone. js.
This is not productive, this is like a lazy programmer compiling shit and forgetting to re-compile over mistakes. And sell it off, so others can say: thank you- and then leave.
Bullying all together is a useless tool. Whether the words are exchanged through online messages or verbally, words hurt. Plain and simple. It's good to see the website pick-up on this more and more. Harassment in electronic form is dealt with legally in the state of New York and therefore should not be tolerated on a website that is founded in said state. Penal Law, Article 240, ยง 240.30 Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree
Way to go, Jet. A shout out to the lovely Beth for helping keep not just the website, but the chat in particular, in order. Thanks to all the other administrators on the website doing their best to keep up with the drama.
Metalphreak The problem is other Admin handle situations completely differently. They don't even handle them well. Like with this fake account business. Someone who doesn't have a VF cannot make a salute to prove that someone is faking them.
All my tickets in the past were handled wonderfully, I'm assuming they were handled by you.
This last time I could tell it was a different Admin and he/she was absolutely terrible. I've been on this site for years and this Admin was by far the WORST I'd ever dealt with.
ferrum_persona Well, it's something, which I think is good. I mean, I've never really reported people for getting pissy with me mostly because I don't care, and also because I felt that nothing would be done.
Simply because someone has the potential to be able to put up with something, doesn't mean they should have to. Yes, I suppose people should utilize the block button more, or develop better skills with which to cope with idiots/harassment/whatever but it's obvious that's unlikely to happen, so the attempt at paying better attention is kind of nice, imho.

Advancing you to an admin is like having a meth dealer in a Pizza delivery business to CEO.
For as long as I've been doing this, I've found that each admin does things their own way. We do have "copy/paste" responses at our disposal, but I refuse to use them as it makes it seem way too automated.
I deal with the bulk of support tickets, premium issues, band profiles, VF points (redeeming or rewarding), and various other things. I'm not saying other admins do nothing, I am stating that I am the most consistent.
I've had to delete several of my old screen names because of people who feel the need to harass me.
It is hard to get away from people that just insist on being mean; they will be everywhere you go, but at least there is one site on the internet that is willing to do something about it. Jet, you are awesome.
MetalPhreak well the copy/paste responses need to be evaluated. Getting someone to make a salute used to work for fakes but now that Tumblr is so huge that doesn't work anymore.
It is so easy to steal pics from someone on tumblr and use them on here.
It's also harder to get in touch with people on Tumblr and let them know their pics are being use don this site. Even if the person does find out about it and tries to get the VF profile deleted they are met with incredible difficulty.
It should be enough to show proof of the real person's tumblr account.
In regards to fakes, an actual salute is required. I've dealt with enough fakes over the years that I know names of the people in the photos being used. If it is a face I am unfamiliar with, I will ask for a salute or proof of some sort.
SEE? I make a metaphor that fits Its image, and the person "reports" - see, this is just going to make this as bad as politics in Congress...there'ya go Bureaucrats.
"So, why don't you just make a new VF and delete this one? hmm
That way people don't get confused and call you a 'he'."
I've been thinking about that. It's right in my profile, though, right when you scroll past my pic. I thought that would be enough, but then I remembered not everybody reads profiles.
