Other than work, there was no exercise today. I like to think I burned more than I do naturally, being on my feet for six hours, running around taking orders and filling them.
So, onto my eatings for the day.
Breakfast:
Coffee (complete with milk and Bolthouse Perfectly Protein Mocha Cappuccino) + 1/2 Protein Bar = 142 cals
Lunch (it was a slapdash at best, as I was running late this morning and didn't prepare anything the night before)
McD's Oatmeal w/Brown Sugar, Apple Dices, and Craisins) + 1/2 banana + Serving of Triscuit = 482 cals
After dinner smoothie (1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup Bolthouse Perfectly Protein Mocha Cappuccino + ice) + Fiber Plus Brownie (earlier today) = 235 cals
Day in total:
1364 cals
Final Thought
It was one of those days where it seemed just like any other, no different from the days before. Don't let that fool you.Keep doing what you're doing. A seed is still growing and thriving even before you can see it break the surface of the soil. You're still on the way to a better, healthier you.
Advice For The Day
Even when you're in a rush, or don't have the best of choice, you can still choose to make the better choice. Despite the fact I was craving a burger like nothing else (mostly because I was pretty hungry), I chose to abstain. Even in the throes of hunger, your willpower can still be strong.
Today was a generally uneventful day. Though I did get a jog in. It was not as great as I'd hoped it would be, my first jog on my own. I clearly do better when I have someone there to help make sure I don't keep a pace that'll wear me out too fast.
My jog had be at 14 minutes and .78 miles. I went until I couldn't anymore.
Cereal (Special K Protein Plus, milk, banana) + half a protein bar = 367 cals
Dinner: (I kind of fudged this one. I was just so hungry and nothing else sounded good)
Nachos (sour cream, salsa, corn chips) = 720 cals
(I did make sure to take the time to portion it out, measuring and what not, despite the fact I knew it was a bit off the target from the desired meal)
Snacks:
Fiber Plus Brownie = 90 cals
Day In Total:
1519 - 78 (what app says I burned) = 1441 (190 remaining in reference to app goal of 1550)
Final Thought
Clearly, you're going to have days that aren't so great. Or, aren't as perfect as you'd hope. But the trick is to remember the good, and remember the long term. Despite my not great dinner, the rest of my day was pretty awesome (I got a lot of compliments at work for working hard). And did get my jog in.
Advice For The Day
If you're like me, and you aren't that great at getting yourself motivated, by yourself, it's important to take some time to practice. I am normally out the door by nine am to have my morning jog, but I procrastinated a little and was about 30 minutes behind. BUT I still managed to get it done. There's not always going to be someone there to motivate you, so don't fall into the trap of thinking there will be!
Ooookay. So, my intention was to get up this morning and do a bout on the treadmill. I woke up late, with 30 minutes to get ready for work. Needless to say, I did not get my treadmill time.
But, while I was working, I was able to get some small exercises in, like vertical push ups between orders/cashing out orders in back booth. The ledge for the window is perfect for that. It's not much, but it was reeaaally slow today, I was able to do like, ten sets of ten, alternating between front and rear facing.
I also did do a short stint on the treaddy right after work, before I ate. It honestly wasn't much (about 11 minutes, alternating between walking and jogging). It hurt really bad, LOL. My calves were SCREAMING. But I did what I could, and I did it LIKE A BOSS.
So, on to the foodage, since I describe my activity for today above:
I decided to skip the mayo today, since I landed 74 cals over goal. It cut out close to 100 cals.
Dinner (after short jog thingy)
Smoothie (including Oikos Greek Yogurt, Carnation Instant Breakfast, half a banana, and 1/2 cup milk = 380 cals
And a CRAP TON o' protein, lulz.
Snacks (throughout day)
Cran Energy Drink = 40 cals 1 1/2 services o' icecream + 1/3 serving of chocolate syrup = 250 cals
Quick note about servings: My 1/3 serving of the chocolate syrup was almost more than enough for the amount of ice cream that I had. With that in mind, remember that you don't HAVE to have ONE whole serving of whatever it is you are eating. Sometimes, less is more.
Day In Total:
937 cals - 86 burned (so app on phone says) with a net of 851.
I imagine people may see this and find my calorie count (or lack thereof) outrageous. This is clearly not a normal day. I saw I went over one day, so cut back the next, and it seems these are two extremes. My goal is to definitely find a healthy norm. So no getting worried, aye?
Final Thought
If you don't get your regularly scheduled exercise in, don't fret! You can normally do something later on in the day. Granted, it might not be as much as you wanted, but something is better than nothing! And, even if you don't feel like you did enough to have an effect, remember that it's more than just burning calories: it's about adopting good habits.
Advice For The Day
If you look hard enough, you can almost always find a way to exercise, almost anywhere! If it's not calorie burning then it can definitely be muscle building.
Just doing some retroactive journal updating... there will be just one more for tonight, promise.

What I did today:
Went on a jog before work, and went as long as I could. Went 1.13 miles in 23 minutes. App says I burned 110 with that workout.
Worked for six hours on my feet, but for one 30 minute lunch and one 10 minute break.
What I ate today (will group into meals, and post total calories)
Breakfast (after jog):
Special K Protein Plus Cereal + Milk = 150 cals Whole Wheat Bread Slick + 1 Serving Peanut Butter = 185 cals
Lunch:
Nonfat Chocolate Milk Jug = 190 cals Sandwhich (bread, meat, produce, sauce) = 364 cals Small serving of Fire Roasted Tomato and Olive Oil Triscuit = 90 cals
Dinner:
Toasted Meat & Cheese Sammich (included: butter, pepperjack cheese slice, turkey, roast beef, bread) = 418 cals Cup of Chai and Milk = 217
Snacks Throughout Day:
Fiber Plus Fiber Bar = 120 cals
Total = 1734 - 110 = 1624 net (and minus how much extra I burned working)
Final Thought
Work was interesting having tired myself out before the day even started. But, despite my fatigue and soreness, I had a good day, and I feel I made good use of it.
Advice for the day
Treat your body like you are a guest in it. It might sound weird, but when you're borrowing something, wouldn't you want to be extra careful with it, and treat it with the utmost care?
Doing this can help pave the way to instilling good habits, and you wont have to use any mind tricks!
I'M A BIT OF A FATTY, LULZ. If not wholly in body then definitely in lack of muscle tone and dietary habits/sedentary lifestyle.
While also keeping record in Losing-Weight, I also want to keep a record here. I know that there are many of you who are supportive, and I guess I wouldn't mind partaking. And I know some of you will lightly troll me, which will boost my demeanor if it's needed.
So here is the OP, which follows the journal guidelines:
Honesty, I don't have a lot of weight to lose. So this is more about adopting a healthier lifestyle, more than anything.
Here are a few things I'm working on:
Be cautious of not only the calories, but the true nutrition of the food I put in my body.
Make an effort to keep track of calories daily to see where I can improve.
Currently I have myself scheduled for a jog in the morning 3 times a week. I have no set goal in mind yet, as I am a complete novice and my cardiovascular system is weak; my only aim now is to push myself and go as long as I can.
Continually seek healthy alternatives.
Get in some sort of exercise whenever possible (like at work I will stand in front of a counter/ledge and do 'vertical push-ups to work my arms, or do some impromptu yoga while making something to eat).
Be mindful of the times I eat, particularly past 7:30 (and if I have to eat something, have something light and nutritious).
Get used to smaller portions, and arrange meals to get the 'most bang for my buck'.
Get a gym membership when taxes come back [].
And try to develop a circle of friends who are health conscious.

A Little About Me:
My name is Jessica. I'm 22, living in a coastal town in Oregon, US. And, I work at McDonald's. [DUN DUN DUUUUUN] I spent almost four months eating McDonald's almost every day, sometimes twice a day. When the food is that cheap (and that delicious!), it's hard to see yourself being able to buy more healthy options (especially on a very limited income). I tried eating salads, but, it didn't last long, as I would find myself at the counter ordering a burger of some sort and some fries.
I noticed some weight gain a couple weeks ago, and even though it was barely perceptible, I knew it was time to make a change (and, I promised myself as soon as I noticed weight gain I would give it the almighty FUCK THIS and do something about it). My metabolism has been more than gracious, especially after four months of eating as I had and not doing more than working, and I didn't want to take advantage.
My first step was to buy clothes that I was comfortable in, that I would also work out in. I thought, "If I spend the money, then I'll feel obligated to use them, right?" Well, thankfully, yes! Having little money, when I buy something BY GOD IMMA MAKE USE OF IT.
To keep track of my calories/nutrients/exercise I have downloaded a couple apps on my phone that turn tracking these things into more of a fun thing, than a chore. It also gives me guidelines for how many calories a day I should consume (along with things like protein, fiber, etc), and it also takes into account how many calories I've burned). I'm still getting used to the limit, because I've already gone over 74 cals, LOL. But I take a little solace in the fact that everything I've eaten has been nutritious.
