On props. January 08, 2012, 02:39:pm
The only time I crave receiving picture props is when I actually look at the Top Pics of the week section. Quite frankly, that is one of the few things that can boost my low feeling of self-worth.
Generally speaking, I don't think everyone should or is able to strive for greater human progress as the scales are unequal, but I do believe nobody should strive to actually hinder progress.
And these people.. they indulge in things that go too far. Not morally, as I don't believe in most morals, but intellectually.

Shame. December 22, 2011, 08:00:pm
There is nothing I find more repulsive than humanity's toxic diet habits.
And there is nothing I find more hilarious than a female who was born with natural grace to ruin that by thinking that her qualities will stay with her forever, regardless of eating habits, smoking, lifestyles, attitudes, and lack of exercise.
With males, the whole concept of appearance is a rather vague one, and very very subjective, so I don't want to make general assumptions.

Having been born with an almost immaculate body and thinking it should endure your nasty habits will not work out. Naturally, you are free to do whatever you feel like, absolutely whatever you want. Don't whine when you lose something though, as it will be your fault and yours alone.

As a quick example - white sugar. Don't complain that your organs and skin are not "what they used to be". Of course they're not.

Well, 'tis the quiet season for tourists here in Amsterdam. This leaves me with plenty of time at work to just attempt to analyze and comprehend the complex and often idiotic human behavior our customers tend to exhibit. I am quite big on ranting, so I completely understand why most people dislike me (or even having me as a conversational partner).
Point is, I have very vague opinions on aspects on which most humans tend to be strongly opinionated. This leaves me very open to people's output, never against anyone, and able to see that all opinions are just based on our own bias, misunderstanding, and upbringing.

This is going to be the topic of this journal, I believe. Chances are, I'll drift away into something completely irrelevant, as I haven't set out a clear plan for my entry, but let's see where this leads.

Your opinions and truths are not correct. You are a product of your environment, and not much more than that.
Why? I've noticed people to take more lightly to examples, so I'll attempt to present you with one.
Nudity on Vf is a painful topic nowadays. Some standard patronizing comments consist of "This is not normal, or moral. Put some clothes on because you are a bad person. I'm sure you'll have negative outcomes in your future. This is affecting me. I'm not jealous.".
Dear people, this is merely your opinion on the subject, and nothing else. I am quite sure that when many of you go to school, you experience hostility from other members of society for your make-up, religious symbols, clothing, way of living. (If you aren't you may not belong to this site completely, haha). Naturally, your response will be something of the nature of "This is freedom, self-expression, etc." And it may well be (or not, but this is a long topic). I am quite sure that many of you will speak out if presented with the harsh truths of the Arabic world (or those of previous centuries), where showing ankles or shoulders would be very immoral and nasty indeed. Had you been born in such a situation, you would have considered it, however, perfectly normal and the only correct way to exist.
You have your opinion only because you have grown to believe it's correct. Yet universally, it isn't. You're wearing make-up - does this not make you a painted whore of Babylon, still? No, because morals change with time, and all of them are correct only while they are "in fashion".
This brings me to another point, namely the fact that people, especially adults, tend to believe that their time is the only "correct" time, as well as that the world does not - or should not - change.
Nothing makes your time better than any other time, even though I love to look back nostalgically at tape cassettes myself. It's only your personal attachment to that time that makes it special or otherwise important.

Moving on to a debate I had with some classmates a few days ago. Our wonderful professor, Mr. Rudy Snippe, likes to present us with morally and socially dubious cases in order to teach us a little something about how insignificant we are. We were presented with one of the phenomena of Japan, namely Hatsune Miku. Miku is a musical idol who has "live" concerts in front of fanatic audiences, yet she's merely a 3D anime character with a computer-generated voice.
The responses were a 100 percent negative, mostly consisting of "This is not normal".

Are you sure, dear people? Are you sure there is such thing as "normal" nowadays? Japan is a couple of decades in front of us in terms of development. Just because you're stuck with your conventional, Western tastes, doesn't make it less normal.
Is Hatsune Miku good, then? Who knows. What is good? To some, that's Lady Gaga. To others, that's Bauhaus. Or Dark Funeral. What makes your "good" better than other people's "good"? "Intelligence", you'll say. Well good news darling, music is not intelligence to everyone equally. "That's what music is all about".. well, are you sure? Are you? Who wrote that, and where, and how can we trust it as an ultimate truth?

And that's why, when you ask me about things and get angry about my lack of opinion, I keep to it nonetheless.
I could write for many more hours, I really could. Since I'm starting to lose the point myself though, I'll just leave it at that. Consider it an Unfinished symphony or something, lol.

N.B. - if by any chances you read this, you didn't need to.
N.B.2 - any correction of grammar mistakes would be greatly appreciated. I'm doing my best here.

I find the size of children's egos nowadays to be unbelievable. I furthermore sincerely believe that no child should be raised with constant reminders of how amazing, immaculate, and perfect it is.

If this is not clear, feel free to ask me in a polite manner and I'll explain in a most logical way why I don't think this style of child-raising is in any way correct.
Furthermore, I'd appreciate props on this one, although you don't have to of course. It's a way to bring more people into the discussion, and I love discussions.
..unless you're planning to be offensive. Then it's not a discussion anymore. ;D
