Welcome to my djSPUD myspace profile. I am a club and radio DJ. I started my DJ career back in 1993 at the local radio station Radio Scorpio in Leuven, Belgium. Since 1996 I have been DJing in clubs throughout the Benelux as djSPUD. I have my own monthly event, THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL, a Gothic, Electro, Industrial, Alternative dancenight at Baroeg, Rotterdam (NL). Next to that I also spin as a Guest DJ at many other events, such as Cyberia, Freitag/Samstag, Underground Frequencies, I Am Darkness, Syndrome, Baroeg Open Air, Summer Darkness, Plein Open etc. and in clubs such as Paradiso, Tivoli - Oude Gracht, Paard van Troje, Effenaar, 013, LVC, etc. A typical djSPUD gig distinguishes itself by the wide range of gothic-related music genres which are effortlessly combined into a very danceable mix without losing the melancholy that is so much part of this music style.
Since February 2008 I have been hosting the weekly Gothic, EBM & Industrial radio show DEFCON 1 on Dutch national alternative radio Kink FM. This show is aired every Sunday/Monday from 24:00 till 1:00 (CET). I present the listener with many new releases, classics, news about the goth-scene, the DUTCH UNDERGROUND CHART and a weekly selection from the KAGAN KALENDER. I also build websites for organisations active in the goth scene, such as Cybergothic.nl, Dutch Underground Charts portal site and my own service to the scene: THE Benelux wave gothic electro industrial party and concert calendar KAGAN KALENDER.
My personal taste in music has actually shifted slightly more towards indie & electro over the past few years. I love my music to be more song based and still have some pop-feel to it. Therefore the current wave of post wave and electro acts pleases me a lot more. And this still is true to my roots, as my love for music started back in 1985 with the release of Depeche Mode's Shake The Disease.

My personal taste in music has actually shifted slightly more towards indie & electro over the past few years. I love my music to be more song based and still have some pop-feel to it. Therefore the current wave of post wave and electro acts pleases me a lot more. And this still is true to my roots, as my love for music started back in 1985 with the release of Depeche Mode's Shake The Disease.
