Facts and trivia: Mirage is a sneaky but impatient Transformer and, despite being a loyal Autobot, doesn't like humans very much. This can be seen in the Dark of the Moon game where he refers to Reynolds as simply "human". He also shows little to no concern for his human allies and must be urged by Reynolds to check on the crashed helicopter.
He is armed with a dart rifle, electro-disruptor and the ability to cloak himself. He also possesses two blades forged from the strongest Cybertronian alloys that he wields viciously in battle.
Like the late Jazz, he takes his appearance seriously, and prides himself on his looks. He believes there is no better vehicle mode than a Ferrari — it looks good and is fast, two things that are a must have for Mirage.
Despite appearing prominently throughout the movie Mirage/Dino primarily serves as a background character. He first appears at the Nuclear facility with Bumblebee, Sideswipe and Que/Wheeljack. He later appears when he battles Hatchet on the highway and kills him with help from Bumblebee and Sideswipe. He is among the Autobots that are exiled from Earth on the Xantium - and though having been thought to have been killed by Starscream, he escapes with along with all the other Autobots.
Mirage participates in the final battle and is among several other Autobots who are being held captive by Soundwave, Barricade and several other Decepticons. After witnessing the death of Wheeljack and the Decepticon ships raining down on them, Mirage escapes and battles the Decepticons whom held him captive. Mirage is one of the surviving Autobots at the end of the film, alongside Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Sideswipe, and the three Wreckers.
Call sheets for Dark of the Moon referred to Dino/Mirage as Enzo, a reference to Enzo Ferrari, presumably before the decision was made to tribute his son Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari. Another early working name for him was Rush.
"Dino" is not named "Mirage" in the movie because Hasbro's greatest competitor, Mattel, has an exclusive license for Ferrari toys, and thus Ferrari didn't want their product placement sporting the name of a Hasbro toy's trademark.
Like his name, his Italian accent in the movie also had to be approved by Ferrari, who wanted him not to have a cheesy Hollywood "Italian" accent. In Dark of the Moon, Dino sports an Italian/European Union license plate (registered in the province of Catania), "CT 41401", in vehicle mode. The colors are (deliberately) incorrect, though: Instead of black text on a white background, with a European "blue band" containing the European flag (a circle consisting of twelve yellow stars) on the left and a second blue band containing a yellow circle on the right, Dino's plate is essentially a negative monochrome version, with silver text on a black background, silver bands on both sides, a European flag consisting of twelve black stars on the left and a black circle on the right.
The "cardboard head on a stick" prop used for Dino during the shooting of the movie (a common method used for the movies to give the actors something to react to) can be spotted in the final edit of Dark of the Moon.
It is Mirage gets killed in the Dark of the Moon comic instead of Wheeljack.
