Anti-Mechanism

Next Performance: Anti-Mechanism is Brian A. and David B. Lance M. Based out of North Jersey, Brian Alt and David Borsky cut their teeth playing numerous shows together in their respective bands for half a decade before deciding to act upon their analogous interests in breakbeat, digital hardcore, and proto to mid-90’s industrial music. In 2005, the duo formed Anti-Mechanism with the desire to create wholly original, aggressive electronic-industrial music as a response to their perceived shift of the scene from dark electronics and innovation to preset-laden, trancey clones. The idea was they would bring back a raw energy to live performances missing in many current-day electronic bands by doing it the only way they knewhow: playing live without the safety net of pre-recorded backing and with an honesty that could only come from a true passion for their sound. Furthermore, their silhouetted movements within a blanket of fog and blinding white light combined with their natural high-energy physical and aural performances to create dramatic, arresting visuals and intense stage shows. The music itself featured rock-like buildups and breakdowns with harsh midrange synths reeling over driving rhythms to which Brian’s raw, forceful vocals accompanied. It is with this that Anti-Mechanism evolved into a modern electronic-industrial band able to induce audiences into moshing frenzies and frenetic body movements. Within months of forming and playing out, Anti-Mechanism generated massive waves within the NYC industrial scene, becoming the next hot band being booked amongst industrial promoters. Since conception, Anti-Mechanism has performed alongside noteworthy bands Combichrist, Assemblage 23, Aesthetic Perfection, Slick Idiot, Psyclon Nine, Razed in Black, Bile, Hanzel und Gretyl, Android Lust, The Birthday Massacre, E-Craft, Terrorfakt, Destroid, Cyanotic and Dismantled. In 2006, they released the EP “The Ending Swallows Us Whole,”recorded with producer Xris Flam, which immediately saw heavy club rotation with their single “Feel in Frames.” This EP caught the attention of Daniel Myer who invited Anti-Mechanism as the supporting act for Haujobb on the 2007 “Renegades of Noise” USA tour. Since traversing the country, work on a new album began with an outlook of unyielding electronic violence cementing their intensely captivating presence. These songs were further refined while bouncing back and forth between playing live and recording in the studio, gaining nsight in both environments. Whereas the first EP was more an experiment in electronics and a development of their sound, Anti-Mechanism set out to write an album with intention. Collectively, the songs form a vision of humanity treading on a path of self-destruction and questions whether it is possible to transcend beyond this fate. As Anti-Mechanism continued to play out, keyboardist Lance Marxen joined in 2009, further enhancing their live show. It is with this outfit that they were invited in 2010 to open up the main stage at the very first Triton Festival of NYC. They currently frequent Mindswerve Studios in NYC with producer Xris Flam to finish up their debut album “Moments Before the Collapse,” a diverse collection of hard-hitting songs certain to bring moshing and mayhem wherever they are heard.
