This is long.
Bear with me, heathens.

I'm not out to impress anybody. I grew out of that not too long ago. I'm not out to lord anything over anyone else or delude myself into thinking I'm above anyone for any reason. I don't intend to try and make people like me. Disingenuity is something I do my best to avoid. I'd rather have people dislike me or shy away from me than have shallow and pointless interactions. But in all honesty, I'm a rather warm, compassionate individual. I don't like to see people in pain, and I try to do good where I can. As time goes on, most of this 'good' tends to be education. I learned quickly that an overabundance of action can take responsibility from someone, and have more of a detrimental effect than a positive one, and I'm not out to save anybody. I want people to be able to save themselves.

I've come to believe that our beliefs and opinions are not reflections of reality, rather than reality perceived through our own personal filter. I've moved far beyond trying to change peoples minds, or expecting people to agree with me. I hold my beliefs, opinions, and truths accountable in my own perception, and allow the same for everyone else. As is my right, and theirs.

I'm not religious. I value scientific literacy, an open mind, and refuse to speak on something I know absolutely nothing about unless simply voicing my opinion. My favorite answer, sometimes even more than the right one, is 'I don't know', if they honestly don't know. Especially if they intend to try and find the answer.

People who present opinions and beliefs as claims and facts strike a special, rage filled chord with me. The parameters of each are clearly set and defined, so it's lost on me why people allow these lines to be blurred or crossed. Everyone has an opinion, and I can appreciate most all of them, but it seems to me, personally, that it takes a special kind of arrogance (or ignorance, which often has opportunities to be corrected) to think that they are going to have any merit or seem remotely empirical outside one's own perspective.

I'm honestly not as arrogant or stuck up as I might sound. I make it a point to be objective, and to not make judgments. Though, sometimes, they are unavoidable. I prefer to make them based on character rather than beliefs or opinions as much as I can. I'm also very humble, believe it or not. I'm aware that anyone can say it, but if you spend time around me, you'll see.

I truly do love to enjoy life. Other than living to learn, I live to smile and laugh. Joking and shenanigans are something I'm drawn to.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
